Public Works Department

The mission of the Public Works department is to enhance the quality of life in the community through professional operation and maintenance of the Pueblo’s infrastructure.

Public Works Department is comprised of the following sections: Facilities, Utilities and Transportation.

The Facilities Section performs maintenance on Government buildings and Enterprise facilities as required.

The Utility Section provides O&M of utility services for water, waste water and reclaimed water. This service is provided for the Pueblo of Sandia Community and all of its Enterprises.

The Transportation Section is responsible for O&M of the Pueblos fleet of equipment. The section is responsible for maintaining paved and dirt roadways on the Pueblo.                                                               

The Housing Program is a Tribally managed program under the Public Works Department. The program works closely with the Housing Advisory Board that provides guidance and direction on housing. The Housing Program also provides services to meet community needs including homeownership, home improvement, maintenance, and repair.                                                                                                                                                                                                    The Bison Program

The Bison Program responsibilities are to care and feed the bison herd which are located at the Pueblo’s land off of Tramway Road. The herd is kept in top-notch condition by a caretaker and has become a tourist attraction and a valuable educational aid for the younger generation.  

Hours of operation: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with on call service for emergency situations.
